Team Flame

Who We Are

Team Flame is a 10-person raiding team within the guild Ebon Flame, based on the server Moonglade - an EU RP-PvE server. We raid to have fun and enjoy our time, and to succeed as a team beating the hardest content we can. We raid to make this progress, but not at the expense of that enjoyment. We raid to achieve a sense of accomplishment together, as a team. Our highest achievements include completing Heroic Spine of Deathwing, Heroic Madness of Deathwing, & Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider while they were current content, despite a very long & rocky road on the way!

Our Mission

  • Ultimately, we aim to succeed at the “Meta” achievement (for example Glory of the Pandaria Raider) for all raiding tiers. We will do this by aiming to kill each raid boss on “Normal” for each raiding tier while it is current, and each raid boss on “Heroic” for each raiding tier one-below that which is current, and when this is completed we will drive on to raid bosses on “Heroic” for current content.

Our Raiding Philosophy

  • To have fun in a social atmosphere, with a group who are our friends, with a positive and constructive attitude.
  • To make progress as a team by killing as many bosses as possible, and individually by progressing our characters through improving gear & equipment.
  • To be prepared by knowing the tactics, being on time at raid-start and after breaks, and being fully geared to the utmost we can control (including gems, enchantments, and reforging).

Progression Raids

These raids are where our main focus lies. Each raiding week, we schedule three nights (Thursday/Sunday/Monday), and we aim for at least two of these nights to be on “current-tier” content. The rules & guidelines on attitudes during these progression raids are:

  • Focus, from the moment the Raid Leader issues a “/readycheck”.
  • Minimal extraneous speech during a boss encounter.
  • Boss mechanics/cooldowns will be aimed to be called-out by either a Raid Leader or someone designated to do so.
  • Role Leads are expected to and may at their discretion offer input to achieve a kill.

Farm Raids

Farm Raids can be swift gearing- or VP-runs, generally on older content. General rules (see below) apply, and the main goal is to work towards team progress by getting those last items we need or VP in general to go towards current-level vendor gear. On harder bosses, Raid Leaders are within their rights to call for full progression raid rules, as outlined above, at their discretion.

General Rules for all Raids

Each member is expected to abide by common rules and standards on all Team Flame raids. These are:

  • Raids begin at 20:00 server time (19:00 GMT) and will end either before or within a few minutes of 23:30 server time (22:30 GMT).
  • Aim to be ready and prepared where possible a minimum of 10 minutes before this starting time.
  • Avoidable AFKs outside of breaks are strongly discouraged – further details are below in this wiki page. This includes things like ordering a pizza to arrive while the raid is running, signing up to raid when you know you are likely to be disturbed, and other such common-sense things based on consideration for your team.
  • Comments, talking, joking, generally enjoying yourself is welcome and always encouraged – but not to the detriment of the raid.

Positions & Roster

Team Leaders

Leaders are expected to: create raids; prompt team members to sign up to raids; select raid targets; select teams at least 24 hours in advance of the raid start time; know all boss strategies; keep raid morale high; ensure team rules are followed, arbitrate any loot disputes, allocate whatever needs allocating; receive & handle raid loot (BoEs etc.).

Role Leads

  • vacancy - Strategist (familiar with all boss strategies, and skilled at coming up with new ideas/tactics/plans for success).
  • Maarken – Healing Lead.

Role (Tank/Healing/Ranged DPS/Melee DPS) Leads are expected to: know the strengths and weaknesses of all members who have a main or off-spec that you cover; know all boss strategies from the point of view of your role and be willing/able to contribute to raid strategy from that point of view; be able to offer support to Role members who need it; call out for role-specific cooldowns during encounters.

The team will, where reasonable, go back to get achievements/kills for all other team members if they miss things.

All members are expected to be raiding 2 or more nights out of 3 during a week, in general (exceptions are happily made for holidays etc.). They are also expected to demonstrate a commitment to the team's success that cannot be doubted.

Any non-members who wish to become a member are advised to act as if they were already a core member, nothing will gain recognition faster, and sign for the raids!

Loot

General Raid-Boss Epic Loot

In the event of any disputes over loot, a team Leader's word is final and to be abided by without question, once stated.

  • Please roll "Need" on any item that you want for your main-spec that is a higher ilvl than what you are currently using.
  • Please roll "Greed" on any item that you want for your main-spec and is of equal or lower ilvl than what you are currently using, or that you want for your off-spec. (Special Note: if an item is the same ilvl as what you already have but is a demonstrable upgrade, then you may be allowed to roll "Need" on it as a special case - raise it with the raid Leader when the situation occurs. Alternately, remember that items can be traded once looted if not "Need"ed, and that we're all in this together so please show consideration to your team-mates.)
  • Please "Pass" on all other loot (a Leader will "Greed" it for the team/guild bank, with the idea that it be given to someone before the timer allowing that runs out, or Disenchanted).
  • Please never roll "Disenchant" to prevent misunderstanding or items accidentally getting sharded.

Leaders might check your gear, if they think you're not playing fair. We do not encourage this, but if you spot someone breaking these rules then privately tell a Leader and do not raise it publicly - the Leader/s will take appropriate action.

Ebon Flame Initiates

  • You may not roll "Need" on any items.
  • Please roll "Greed" on any item that you want.
  • Please never roll "Disenchant" to prevent misunderstanding or items accidentally getting sharded.
  • Team Leaders reserve the right to ask any member to pass on any items they win to an Initiate, if the overall gain for the team is deemed worth it.

Non-BoP Loot

  • Please "Pass" on all non-BoP loot. A Leader will loot it and either distribute it among the team or place it in the guild bank as appropriate.

Special/Rare Items

On occasion, there will be special or items that may drop - items like Legendaries or components thereof, quest items that do not drop a copy for all raid members, and rare mounts.

Craftable Items

  • Haunting Spirit & Blood Spirit items are please to go to the Team Leaders for team usage in crafting items. These are apparently found when disenchanting raid drops, as such will likely come from gear that has been Passed on by all, or by gear that has been replaced & disenchanted by individual members. I appreciate that this won't always be in a raiding environment necessarily, so please be honest. :-)

Legendary Items

Mounts

These are to be passed on. The raid leaders will assign the mount to a member of the raid who has shown a true commitment to the team.

Preparation and other rules

Individual Preparation

  • All members are expected to have extensive knowledge of their own class, abilities, off-specs, talents / glyphs and how a specific talent or glyph can aid in various raid situations.
  • We do not demand to actively gather gear outside of raids unless you are below par with your gear (more than 20 ilvls). This can happen due to various reasons (raiding less, extended afk) but can also be fixed within the guild easily. Flex raids are regularly hosted, LFR pre-mades can be organised on request. Please ask your raidleaders about this. Gathering gear tokens can also be a quick way to improve your gear and guildmembers regularly organise fixed gathering nights.

Gems & Enchantments

  • All members are expected to have all of their gear Gemmed and Enchanted to the highest possible yet reasonable level at all times. For example, during much of the Dragon Soul raiding-period, epic-quality gems were so rare as to be unable to provided to all - and were provided fairly across the team when they were available. Rare-quality gems were not limited in quantity, and available.
  • Gems and Enchanting materials are often, but not always (depending on availability/rarity, generally) provided by the guild. Materials can be provided by an EF Officer.

Raid Preparation

  • To make raids run as smooth as possible we ask participants to be ready for raiding 10 minutes before raid start-time. Being ready means being repaired, and preferably reforged to meet the minimum hit cap and expertise cap. You are raiding with 9 other raiders who have done the same so please don't let them down. You are not expected to use potions during a farm raid. You are expected to use potions during a progression raid, please make sure you have enough to last for the raid. Taking time out to create more when it is not a break is not cool.
  • Some fights are hard to master and we ask each one of you to know the strategy of the bosses we are facing, preferably for all raid-roles. http://www.icy-veins.com or http://www.tankspot.com are good websites to turn to for strategies. Running LFR prior to a raid-night might also give you some understanding of how the bosses work although it is MUCH easier than the 10-man or 25-man normal counterparts.

Breaks & AFKs

  • We have breaks, breaks are good. We plan breaks around the duration of flasks running out. A typical raid night would look like this: Trash clearing, take a flask and do boss encounters until flask runs off, 10 minute break, take a flask and do boss encounters until flask runs off, 10 minute break, take a flask and do boss encounters until 23:30 which is raid end-time. Try and plan your toilet breaks around this - this isn't primary school, and we take a very dim view of people wanting to just run to the loo quickly when that disrupts everyone else's time.
  • Unscheduled/unnecessary AFKs are bad, don’t take the piss or the piss will be taken. Emergencies will always happen, and we will always be understanding - real life always takes precedence over a game. However, remember the real lives of your team-mates are involved, too.

Miscellaneous

  • Team Roster. The roster can be changed at any time without any prior notice to the team by a Leader, once all Leaders have agreed to the change. However, the Leaders will endeavour to do so with good cause and transparent reasons which are likely to include a member’s lack of commitment in signups and/or turning up to raids signed up to, and with appropriate notice.
  • Off-Specs. All members are expected to maintain a working off-spec of a different role (Tank/Healing/DPS) to their main spec, where possible. They are also encouraged, but not expected, to maintain suitable gear for said off-spec. Having a viable off-spec is an incredibly valuable resource to the team, and normally results in the member’s increased selection for raid spots.
  • Decisions. If you have issue with a Leader’s decision, do not question it during the raid – please accept it for at least the duration of the current raid. If you feel you must question it during the raid, do so privately.
  • Non-Combat Companion Pets. Please do not have these active during raids. Yes, we know there is an achievement that needs them, we'll work that out when the time comes. :-)
